Our shoot with dear friend, beautiful soprano, and Shoperatic.com website designer/developer Maya Kherani was such a breeze that we finished our scheduled look in record time and found ourselves with time for one more outfit. The camera just LOVES this girl! Maya had packed a simple black sheath and some black heels, but after capturing her effervescent personality in amazing couture, this look felt way more “office” than the “diva”, and we craved more of that playful style she had been serving up all morning. As luck would have it Sara was also wearing a black sheath dress, paired with a flowy summer cabana coat and a handmade beaded fringe necklace by Kenyan artist Grace Mugala. A quick accessory swap turned this ubiquitous YAP audition staple into a mainstage, command performance fashion statement.
Don’t be afraid to take risks with your accessories! Be open to all the possibilities and show the world that you have something to say before you even open your mouth.
Tonight, Maya sings her closing performance of Britomarte in L’arbore di Diana with West Edge Opera, and this fall she makes her Opera San Jose debut as Despina in Così fan tutte.
